‘It is well’ video and worship set-list

19 05 2009

This past Sunday Pastor Mike talked about our pursuit after God and how we should share in Christ’s suffering along with His glory. You can listen to the message HERE, it is well worth your time.

To go along with his message we closed our worship set with the hymn ‘it is well’. Everyone knows this song and it has a great message. But instead of having music with our vocalist we only played an ambient noise track that included traffic, city noise, people talking, computer typing, etc. I wanted this to feel out of sync and uncomfortable. The idea was to show that our world tries to crowd out our desire and hunger for the living God, but we need to keep our focus on him and follow hard after him. If we do this we can say ‘it is well’.

I had Hilary video the song during our 11:45 service. All of the noise you hear surrounding Brittney is coming from the noise track. At times you can barely hear her vocal and that was intentional. Kudos to Brittney for being able to sing along with noise. That takes talent my friends:)

Prayer for Today.

14 05 2009

Grant, O God,

that your holy and life-giving Spirit

may so move every human heart,

that the barriers which divide us may crumble,

suspicions disappear,

and hatreds cease,

and that, with our divisions healed,

we might live in justice and peace;

through your son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

*New* Jack Conte video song

6 05 2009

here is a new video song by one of my favorite independent artists, Jack Conte. He plays everything himself and if you hear it then you see it. No lip-syncing for instruments or voices.

Guitar Art

30 04 2009

I came across this artwork on the Electro-Harmonix website. It is by an artist named Robin Rose. I would love to have something like this at my house, but would probably become “lonely” and frustrated because I couldn’t play the pedals.

Hands and Feet

28 04 2009

Last year our church, Grace Fellowship begin our first building campaign callled The Generous Life Campaign (click to read more about it). We felt called to do more than just raise money for our own permanent home, so we decided to give 50% of our pledges to the poor. 25% is going to The Destiny Foundation of Central Florida, an organization that helps the working poor, and 25% is going to Rwanda for new water wells.

Jason Vermeulen (our administrative director) posted an update on the progress so far this year, click here to read.

It amazes me how God is using our church to help change and restore lives. Thank you to everyone that has stepped up and decide to live for something that is greater than us.

Ok, so I haven’t posted anything on this blog for over a month now.  I just haven’t had the time to sit down and type.

I have nothing cool to show you right now, except for a link to photos from Easter at Eola 2009. Thanks to Chris and Connie Kocher for taking these.

Enjoy.
